The “Bat-Shir” Choir

Bat-Shir was established in 2000 by the municipality of Haifa. Since its beginning, the choir has been a unique artistic educational enterprise that has become one of the pillars of musical educational activity in the city of Haifa. The choir currently has three groups: the reserve choir ages 7-12, the representative choir ages 12-18 and the Bat-Shir Musical Ensemble ages 18-30. The choirs perform at major city events, choir gatherings, national and international competitions and festivals. The choir participates in various concerts and events, in which it performs original works and also participates in master classes with the best musicians and creators in Israel. From April 2012 Bat-Shir Choirs They became the house choirs of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. In January 2017, the choir went to perform in China at the invitation of the Chinese government. During the month of November 2019, the choir performed in a series of concerts throughout the country with the Philharmonic Orchestra in the project “Requiem for War” conducted by Yoel Levy During the month of August 2021, the Bat Shir Choir performed in a joint concert with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in a premiere performance of the piece “Ha’aretz – a symphonic poem for orchestra and choir” written especially by Aharon Haralp, for it and for the symphony orchestra as part of a call to encourage Israeli composers. The choir participated in the performance of the operas “Tosca”, “La Boheme” and “Carmen” as part of the Haifa Opera. Moreover, the choir performed in 5 ‘concerts from the films’ throughout the country together with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra.

During the 21-22 season, the choir appeared with the symphony orchestra in a special program as part of the classical series, performing Mozart’s Requiem under the direction of Stanley Sperber, who was the musical director of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. Also in the 22-23 season, the Bat Shir Choir is planning an extensive activity in collaboration with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and the Haifa Opera. The choir has become very popular in Israel and performs at leading cultural events together with the philharmonic orchestra, performances before the president of the country and other state events
